Eric’s European Grandfather migrated to Australia from Europe as a skilled worker and has been the owner operator of his tree works company for more than 40 years. Eric’s two Uncles and Father all continue to work in arboriculture between Sydney and Brisbane operating their own business.
As a teenager Eric began working for his Grandfather during school holidays. Once completing his senior school education he commenced his apprenticeship in QLD under his father who has 25 years experience in the industry as a qualified Level 5 Aborist.
His speciality skill was as a high altitude climber and he was also responsible for day to day operations coordinating crews and jobs.
After completing his apprenticeship under his Father he then went on to work as a contract climber for various other Brisbane Tree Companies. Eric took up the challenge to start his own business with just a ute full of chainsaws, his climbing gear and some ropes. Chip Off The Old Block was established in 2011.
